Are you constantly wondering why it seems everyone else is happy and your feelings are like a roller coaster?

Are you constantly wondering why it seems everyone else is happy and your feelings are like a roller coaster?

Some days you feel happy, others are ok and then there are these days you feel unmotivated or stressed?

Let me tell you something: it’s absolutely normal to feel down sometimes. To feel stressed or unhappy sometimes. And this is the way how it is for everyone, even those who always post the most perfect photos on Instagram – just that they don’t show it.

Why is this so?

Because we’re human and it’s kind of impossible to feel happy 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – except you could live like a monk, spending several hours a day meditating.

But what’s important is, that you don’t drag down yourself in the downward spiral and just accept the way it is. Accept your feelings and thoughts, not judging yourself and being kind to yourself. Instead of constantly asking yourself what’s wrong with you…
What might help you as well is to know the fact, that just like you, there are so many other people in the same situation. Real life isn’t how it looks on Instagram 😉

The Happiness Baseline – Set Point Theory by Brickman (1978)

However, it is possible to influence how high your “happiness line” is in general.

It’s scientifically proven.
Your genetics decide by 50% whether you are an optimist or pessimist. 10% depends on your environment and 40% on your own mindset.

So, even if you cannot change the 50% which are genetical, you are able to take control of the other 50% – by surrounding yourself with positive minded people instead of people gossiping the whole day or who love being on the “victim-role”. And, by working on your mindset.

Whether you are willing to take action, being mindful and might even start meditation, is up to you. Your happiness lies in your own hands.
